Harry Benjamin Collection

The collection of Harry Benjamin (1885-1986), endocrinologist, sex researcher, and one of the first "gerontotherapists" whose work focused on transsexualism is comprised of 1400 archival folders and 9 additional boxes (30 linear ft. total) of personal and professional correspondence (1922-1986) with the majority of the letters dated from 1960-1978, manuscript drafts, Benjamin's diaries/daily planners (1913-1982), lectures (1956-1974), organizations' materials and correspondence (S.S.S.S, Erickson Foundation), articles, clippings, photographs, portraits, and other objects, including 26 boxes of slides and 30 cassette tapes.
