Beverly Whipple Collection

The Whipple Collection contains materials related to Beverly Whipple, PhD, RN, FAAN, professor Emeritus at Rutgers University, a certified sex educator, certified sex counselor, certified sex researcher, and certified sexologist. Much of the research included in this collection is devoted to female sexuality and pain control.

The collection currently consists of 10 boxes divided into 5 series: Series I) Biographical/Personal Materials: Series II) Correspondence: Series III) Publications, Manuscripts & Lectures: Series IV) Research/Grants/Patents: Series V) Miscellaneous materials and research files.

Series II is comprised of correspondence directed to Dr. Beverly Whipple from the general public, each requesting more information on sexuality and/or providing personal sexual histories after viewing Dr. Whipple’s interview on the Phil Donahue Show. (3 boxes) The letters are numbered #1-2160 and listed in an excel file.
