Sex TherapySex therapists work directly with individuals and couples on problems in their sexual lives. Training as a sex therapist often includes graduate or college degrees in counseling, education, social work, healthcare, or psychology, and then post-graduate speciality training in sex therapy. For more on How to Become a Sexuality Educator, Counselor, or Therapist, contact the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). The American Psychological Association (APA) also has a helpful webpage How to Choose a Psychotherapist, which offers a description of therapy, the role of the psychotherapist, and possible routes to licensing.
Sexual RightsInternational health organizations include sexual and reproductive rights as fundamental aspects of human rights. For specific definitions and documents, see: Sexual Health for the Millenium: A Declaration and Technical Document (PDF) (World Association for Sexual Health, 2008) Note: PDF is a 3 MB file.
