Center for AIDS Intervention Research, Milwaukee, WI
CAIR, at the Medical College of Wisconsin, is an interdisciplinary research center, the only such HIV/AIDS prevention research center in the Midwest.

Center for AIDS Prevention Studies, San Francisco, CA

The Center for Health & Social Policy. This international center was established in 1996. Jointly sponsored by The Universities of Kent, Keele, and Westminster, CentreLGS is a critical, interdisciplinary, international research centre. The intellectual heart of the Centre is the relationship between gender and sexuality, on the one hand, and law, governance and normativity, on the other.

The Center for Sex Research, California State University, Northridge, CA
An interdisciplinary center of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. It sponsors seminars and conferences on topics of interest to a wide range of sexuality researchers.

Family Health International , Research Triangle Park, NC
FHI conducts research internationally on reproductive health, contraceptives, and the prevention of AIDS and STDs. It has a strong focus on women of reproductive age in the developing world. FHI also publishes training materials.

The HIV Center for Clinical and Behavioral Studies, at New York State Psychiatric Institute and Columbia University, New York, NY
Established in 1987, the center conducts interdisciplinary research on the prevention of HIV transmission.

National Sexuality Resource Center at San Francisco State University
The National Sexuality Resource Center helps create new dialogues between the public, researchers and community advocates, which strengthen informed responses to critical sexual and social issues. By disseminating accurate information and evidence-based research on sexual health, education and rights, NSRC promotes social justice and enhances the quality of life within the United States.

NORC conducts survey research in the public interest, including research related to sexuality. NORC's General Social Survey has collected data on Americans' attitudes and behaviors for over 20 years. It also conducted the The National Health and Social Life Survey on sexuality, and collected field data for the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health, 1994-1996.

Rutgers Nisso Group (RNG), Dutch national centre of expertise on sexuality.
The Rutgers Nisso Group is an expertise and policy centre specializing in sexuality, and sexual and reproductive health in the Netherlands. The Council conducts research in the population field, including biomedical research to develop new contraceptives, and research on fertility, family planning, and aspects of gender.

Rural Center for AIDS/STD Prevention (RCAP), Indiana University, Bloomington
The Center develops and evaluates educational materials and methods, examines social and behavioral aspects of AIDS/STD prevention in rural areas, and provides resources to professionals and the public through its Prevention Resource Library.

This advocacy organization, the oldest human rights organization in the world, has a contemporary reference library which encompasses forced prostitution, child prostitution, and early or forced marriage. Visitors are welcome to use the collections of books, reports, photographs, and other materials.

The British Library, London, England
The library has a large collection of erotic literature known as the Private Case; its Department of Manuscripts holds papers of sexological pioneer Havelock Ellis (1859-1939) and others.

California State University, Northridge
Vern and Bonnie Bullough Collection on human sexuality, housed in Oviatt Library. The library also holds the papers of Virginia Prince.

Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives, Toronto
Has an extensive archival and library collections. There are online listings of holdings.

Cornell University, Ithaca, NY
The Human Sexuality Collection. It seeks to document historical shifts in the social construction of sexuality, with a focus on lesbian and gay history and the politics of pornography. The core of the collection came from the Mariposa Education and Research Foundation.

Family Violence and Sexual Assault Institute, Tyler, TX
FVSAI is a nonprofit, international resource center which contains a clearinghouse of categorized references and unpublished papers concerning sexual abuse. The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Historical Society of Northern California, San Francisco, CA
The archival collections of the GLBTHS includes archives and manuscripts, periodicals, ephemera, erotica and subject files, primarily from the San Francisco area. The collection is open to the public.

Gerber/Hart Library and Archives, Chicago, IL
This is the largest gay, lesbian and bisexual collection in the Midwest. Its Web page has links to other collections and to lists of LesBiGay Libraries and Archives.

Magnus Hirschfeld Archive for Sexology at Humboldt University, Berlin
The Magnus Hirschfeld Archive for Sexology focuses on the history of Sexology and contains many of the early documents and unpublished materials of the field. The archive's Web site provides much information on the development of Sexology and on international resources for study and research.

International Maledicta Archives, Santa Rosa, CA
The archive contains some 3,000 books, 18,000 pages of published research, and 6,000 bibliographical file cards of material from some 220 languages and dialects from the past 5,000 years. Maledicta's main areas of interest are the origin, meaning, use, and influence of terms of verbal aggression and abuse, as well as language usually considered vulgar, obscene, or blasphemous. National Reference Center for Bioethics Literature, Georgetown University, Washington, DC
NRCBL is both a reference library for the public and an in-depth research resource for scholars interested in ethical issues in medicine and biomedical research. The center's database, BioethicsLine, and Bioethics Thesaurus are available online. Issues related to sexuality, sex offenses, sexual orientation, transsexualism, and sex preselection are included.

The National Rehabilitation Information Center, Silver Spring, MD
NARIC's Disability Information Center includes REHABDATA, a database of literature on rehabilitation and disability containing materials related to sexuality. The focus of the collection is federally funded research, but also in the collection are other research reports, books, and journal articles. The keyword-searchable web version of the database goes back to 1956. "Sexuality" is a descriptor.

National Transgender Library and Archive, Atlanta, GA
This is the collection of the American Educational Gender Information Service (AEGIS). It contains a wide range of materials from monographs and journals, to photographs, personal papers, biographies, fiction, erotica, and ephemera. The collection is open to researchers by appointment. The Rutgers Nisso Group, Utrecht
The RNG library has a large collection of materials on human sexuality and personal relationships, and on HIV/AIDS. It also houses the historic collection of the Dutch Foundation for Sexual Reform, 1900-1980. The library's database is searchable online in English or Dutch by keywords. New York Academy of Medicine Library, New York, NY
This is one of the largest medical libraries in the U.S. In addition to its extensive current and historical collections, the library offers free on-site access to over 40 biomedical databases. Founded in 1964 the archive's subject areas of strength include these sexuality-related areas: birth control, sterilization, illegitimacy, prostitution, venereal disease, and family relations. The archives of the American Social Health Association are housed here.
