Based on a true story, Shabnam Mousi is a Bollywood musical about a hijra who overcomes numerous obstacles to become a successful politician. A hijra is a physically male or intersex person who is considered a member of "the third sex". Soon after Shabnam’s birth, he is given by his parents to a group of hijras to be raised in their community. Ashutosh Rana plays the adult Shabnam, who first becomes a dancer, but later decides to enter the volatile world of Indian politics.
